About I Serve with Joy
ABOUT I SERVE WITH JOY
I Serve With Joy (ISWJ) is a local 501c3 organization, created in 2016 to serve the homeless community, at-risk youth, and single-parent families in the greater Charleston area. Our programs center on increasing the impact of our REACH
Rebuild (hearts), Empower (youth), Advance Communities, Help (the underserved)
We do this by collaborating with local organizations, businesses, and volunteers to lead community initiatives that directly serve people in need. Since we are grounded with our “boots on the ground” in the communities we serve, we are uniquely positioned to address community needs in innovative and effective ways as they arise.
I Serve with Joy is extremely excited to go full speed with our “Back 2 School Backpack drive” for the 2023 school year. We’re working to provide hundreds of new backpacks and supplies for students in the Lowcountry and several other surrounding counties so they can return to school with confidence. There’s nothing like the feeling of being prepared and organized to help kids focus on school, and a new backpack is a fundamental part of that preparation.

Donation collections are needed now, and we urgently need your help.
There are 3 different ways to get involved:
1. Host a backpack drop-off location at your business.
2. Donate towards sponsoring filled backpacks
1 backpack = $12.50
5 backpacks = $65.05
10 backpacks = $125
20 backpacks = $250
Unfilled backpacks = $5.00

Why: I Serve With Joy aims to continue to meet the community where the need is the greatest and is a resource bearer to organizations who can best respond to the ever-changing needs of their respective communities. This grassroots Secure hands with Joy initiative unites businesses, nonprofits and the general public to take action in equipping soup kitchens, churches, nonprofits and businesses with the tools needed to excel for a successful school year. With resources depleted and demand outweighing supply, I Serve With Joy is immediately tackling existing gaps with their expansive network and innovative measures.

This Friday, August 11, I Serve With Joy has partnered with Sticky Fingers Ribhouse as one of their Back 2 School With Joy Drive events encouraging attendees to bring school supplies for a chance to win a Sticky Fingers gift card. While supplies last, hygiene products and Bombas socks will be distributed to elementary and high school kids, ensuring their well-being as they embark on a new school year. Parents attending the event will be provided with large bottles of hand sanitizer, emphasizing the organization's dedication to a healthy and thriving community. The Back to School event promises an evening of unity and camaraderie, as the community gathers to contribute to a brighter future for local students. By fostering a sense of togetherness and mutual support, I Serve With Joy aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those it serves.

Companies can give a charitable contribution to purchase backpacks and then can fill them with items as a collaborative team-building effort. Sample packages include 50 unfilled backpacks for $200 or 50 backpack kits with supplies for $600.
